स्पेशल मैरिज एक्ट, 1954 के तहत, कोर्ट मैरिज के लिए नोटिस पीरियड 30 दिन का होता है। ज़रूरी बातें: मैरिज ऑफिसर को एक लिखा हुआ “नोटिस ऑफ़ इंटेंडेड मैरिज” जमा किया जाता है। फाइल करने के बाद, नोटिस 30 दिनों तक सबके सामने दिखाया जाता है। इस 30-दिन के समय में, कोई भी कानूनी आपत्ति उठा सकता है। 30 दिनों के बाद: अगर कोई सही आपत्ति नहीं मिलती है, तो शादी हो सकती है। शादी मैरिज ऑफिसर के सामने 3 गवाहों की मौजूदगी में होती है। ज़्यादा जानकारी: नोटिस फाइल करने से पहले कम से कम एक पार्टनर को आम तौर पर 30 दिनों तक ज़िले में रहना चाहिए। अगर कोई आपत्ति फाइल की जाती है, तो मैरिज ऑफिसर आगे बढ़ने से पहले जांच कर सकता है। नतीजा: भारत में कोर्ट मैरिज के लिए ज़रूरी वेटिंग/नोटिस पीरियड 30 दिन का होता है।
