The limitation period for filing a complaint in a consumer court in India depends on the amount of compensation claimed by the consumer. The time limit for filing a complaint is as follows: If the compensation claimed is up to Rs. 1 lakh, the complaint must be filed within two years from the date on which the cause of action arose. If the compensation claimed is between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 10 lakhs, the complaint must be filed within two years from the date on which the cause of action arose. If the compensation claimed is above Rs. 10 lakhs, the complaint must be filed within two years from the date on which the cause of action arose.
