The cost involved in filing a case before the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) in India can vary depending on various factors, including the type of case, the stage of the proceedings, and the specific circumstances of the case. As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, here are some general cost considerations associated with filing a case before the AFT: Filing Fee: To initiate a case before the AFT, a filing fee is generally required. The amount of the filing fee may vary depending on the nature and category of the case. It is essential to check the AFT's official website or contact the AFT registry for the most up-to-date information on filing fees. Legal Representation: If you choose to hire a lawyer to represent you in your case, you will need to bear the cost of legal fees. The fees can vary widely based on the complexity of the case and the lawyer's experience and reputation. Travel and Accommodation: If you need to appear before the AFT in person, you may incur expenses related to travel, accommodation, and meals, especially if the tribunal is located in a different city or state. Documentary Evidence: You may need to gather and submit documentary evidence to support your case. This can involve costs associated with obtaining documents, photocopying, notarization, and other related expenses. Court Fees for Appeals: If you are filing an appeal before the AFT, there may be additional court fees associated with the appeal process. Again, the specific fees will depend on the type of appeal and the AFT's regulations. Legal Consultation: Before filing a case, individuals often seek legal advice or consultation to understand the merits of their case. While this is not a direct filing cost, it is an expense to consider. Miscellaneous Expenses: Depending on the circumstances of your case, there may be other expenses such as expert witness fees, transportation for witnesses, and so on.

Dear client, The expenses that are incurred in the filing of a case before the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) are the filing fees, as a rule because the AFT was set up to afford an effective remedy to all members of the armed forces at a marginal cost. Usually, there are not many filing fees to allow servicemen and women access justice as per the Constitution without paying lots of money. For instance, the costs are restricted to processing fees which slightly differ depending on the type of and details of the petition or appeal. It also may have other expenses, such as the fees of an advocate that the petitioner might use; however, the petitioner can be granted legal assistance. Extra miscellaneous expenses may be occasioned by the nature of the case being handled and include costs of obtaining the proofs and certified forms or other formalities. Particular cost may differ from one region to another, and often breakdown of cost is accessible at various AFT regional centers. At times, there are conditions for fee remission for those who are economically challenged in their applications. In case of any further queries please feel free to contact us. Thank you.
