Yes, GST registration can be amended in India if there are changes in the business details of the registered person. The Goods and Services Tax Act allows taxpayers to update their registration information to ensure that their GST records are accurate and up to date. Amendments can be made for both core details and additional information. Some common scenarios where GST registration may need to be amended include: Change in business name – if the legal name of the company or firm changes. Change in address – relocation of the principal place of business or additional places of business. Change in constitution of business – for example, conversion from a sole proprietorship to a partnership or company. Change in goods or services supplied – if the nature of business activity or HSN/SAC codes change. Change in contact details – updating email, mobile number, or authorized signatory. The process for amendment is done online through the GST portal: Log in to the GST portal (www.gst.gov.in ). Select “Amendment of Registration Non-Core Fields” or “Core Fields” depending on the change. Submit the updated information along with supporting documents where required. The amendment is verified by the GST officer, and once approved, the changes are reflected in the GST registration. It is important to update GST registration promptly to avoid compliance issues, penalties, or difficulties in claiming input tax credit. Certain changes, like a change in constitution or business ownership, may require fresh registration instead of amendment. In summary: GST registration can be amended to reflect changes in business details, address, name, or activities, and such updates must be made through the official GST portal with supporting documentation to remain compliant under GST law.

Dear client, yes, a GST registration can be amended in the future if there are some changes of details in the business. Updates like name, address or business activities can be done online on the GST portal with the required documents. In short, keep GST details updated to avoid any further issues because such major changes may need a fresh registration. May this help and for further issues do not hesitate to contact us.

Dear client, yes, GST registration can be amended. As per Section 28 of the CGST Act, 2017, amendments to registrations are classified under two categories: core field amendments and non-core field amendments. Non-core field amendments are elaborated in paragraph 2(2) of the Goods and Services Tax Notification Quasi Rule, 2016, and include any changes in the contact details of the registered person, bank account details, authorized signatory details, and addition and deletion of partners or directors. The core field amendments include changes to legal name (such as any change in the name of business partner, legal name of business, legal entity (company, partnership, sole proprietorship, private limited, private excluding foreign companies or located abroad)), principal place of business, addition and deletion of partner/s or director/s. The application for core field amendments has to be submitted to the GST officer within 15 days of the change. The GST Officer has to approve the core field amendments. Non-core field amendments are auto-approved on receipt of the application. The amendment application has to be filed in Form GST REG-14 on the GST portal within 15 days after the occurrence of the event. In order to support the change, specific documents are needed and have to be uploaded, such as a rental agreement for address change and a board resolution for change in authorised signatory. Once the officer considers the amendment application accepted, the GST authority will issue the GST REG-15 and approve the change within 15 working days. However, the amendment becomes effective from the date it is triggered and not from the date of approval. I hope this answer helps, if you have any further query kindly do not hesitate to contact us. Thankyou
