Answer By law4u team

India’s obligations under the UN Charter arise from its status as a founding member of the United Nations and a sovereign nation committed to international peace and cooperation. Key obligations include: Maintain International Peace and Security: India must refrain from the threat or use of force against other states except in self-defense or with UN Security Council authorization (Article 2(4), Chapter VII). Settle International Disputes Peacefully: India is obligated to resolve disputes by peaceful means like negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or judicial settlement (Article 2(3)). Respect Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity: India must respect the sovereignty, political independence, and territorial integrity of other UN members (Article 2(1)). Fulfill Charter Obligations in Good Faith: India must carry out its obligations sincerely under the Charter (Article 2(2)). Cooperate with the UN: India must cooperate with the UN Security Council and other organs in maintaining peace and implementing decisions (Articles 25, 43). Promote Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms: India supports UN principles promoting human rights and social progress (Preamble and Chapter IX). Support International Law: India must uphold and promote respect for international law and the UN Charter as the basis of international relations. In essence: India, as a UN member, is bound to promote peace, respect international law, and cooperate with the UN and other states to achieve the Charter’s purposes.

Dear Client, India, being one of its founding members, has been subject to all the obligations under the UN Charter since 1945. Its main duty is to maintain international peace and security by agreeing to settle disputes peacefully as well as not to make use of armed forces.India also has an obligation to abide by UN Security Council decisions, especially those falling under Chapter VII. India has an obligation to respect the sovereign equality of all members and act in good faith while performing its obligations under the Charter. It has to promote human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction, and cooperate internationally to achieve global economic, social, and humanitarian goals. India must respect this principle in its dealings with other nations as the Charter also protects domestic jurisdiction from UN meddling. India has always contributed to UN peacekeeping forces albeit voluntarily showing its commitment to world peace. India must also make a monetary contribution to the UNs regular and peacekeeping budgets. Overall India's responsibilities under the Charter show its commitment to a just harmonious and cooperative global order. I hope this answer helps.
